CUMBERLAND CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO PARTICIPATE IN “BOOZE IT AND LOSE IT”

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to increase impaired-driving enforcement from October 28, 2018 through November 3, 2018. The THSO’s statewide “Booze It and Lose It” campaign is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over nationwide mobilization. The sheriff’s office is committed to keeping drivers safe on the roads in Cumberland County.

We can’t stand to see this tragic loss of life again and again,” said Sheriff Casey Cox. “The hardest part of the job is making that house call and telling a family that their loved one is gone because someone chose to drink and drive. That is what, leading up to the holidays, we will show zero tolerance for drunk drivers on the road.”

During the holiday season, law enforcement will be out in force to aggressively seek out those individuals who make the dangerous decision to drink and drive. The consequences of a first time DUI offender in Tennessee may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment and or the installation of an ignition interlock device in the offenders vehicle.
