CROSSVILLE MAN KILLED, WOMAN INJURED IN KENTUCKY VEHICLE ACCIDENT

A vehicle accident in Kentucky early this morning claimed the life of a Cumberland County man. According to the Kentucky State Police, the accident took place on Kentucky Highway 461 in Rockcastle County. Officers say a 2008 Ford Mustang operated by 21-year-old Alexander S. Hooker of Brodhead, Kentucky was heading north when he crossed the center line and hit a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 52-year-old Delaine K. Smith of Crossville, Tennessee head on. Troopers say Hooker was not restrained at the time of impact and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Smith, who was restrained, was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of injuries. A passenger in the truck, 56-year-old Michael V. Smith of Crossville, was transported to the Rockcastle County Regional Hospital where he later passed away from injuries sustained. The accident remains under invesigation by the Kentucky State Police and troopers say alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
