CROSSVILLE POLICE OFFICER PUTS DOWN THREATENING DOG

A Crossville Police Officer had to put an aggressive dog down that offered a threat to him earlier this week. The officer was dispatched to a Dayton Ave. address, where the resident stated that the dog had attacked his dog while it was chained up. The suspected dog then retreated across the street behind some trailers. After calling for additional help, the officer approached the trailers cautiously. A black dog appeared from behind the structures, reportedly stopped about 20 feet away from the officer and then charged. The officer then fired, stopping the animal less than 10 feet away. The owner was notified of the dog’s death. It was later learned that Dispatch had received previous reports of a dog roaming around the same area.
