CROSSVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOTS REPORTEDLY FIRED
A Cumberland County woman is facing several charges after reportedly discharging a firearm. Deputies were called to a home on Funnel Creek Road off of Mayland Road this past Monday for a disturbance. According to the arrest report, 55-year-old Benita Dougharty of Crossville was in a driveway to a home yelling at individuals then shots were fired in the direction of the subjects. Officers recovered a .357 handgun and five spent casings. Dougharty was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a firearm while under the influence and two counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. She was transported to the Cumberland County jail and initially placed under $87,000 bond.
