FENTRESS COUNTY SCHOOLS CLOSES FOR A DAY BUT THE REASON IS UNCLEAR

Fentress County schools closed yesterday (February 20, 2018) but the reason why is unclear at this time. What is known is the reason is either a threat that was being investigated or the flu coming back in the school system. Fentress County Director of Schools Mike Jones told 98.9 The Wolf News this morning that the school system was trying to decide to close schools down again for the flu causing attendance rates to drop when they were notified of a possible threat. Fentress County Sheriff Michael Reagon issued a statement this afternoon saying that the sheriff’s department have and will continue to investigate any threats within the school system and any credible threat will be addressed. Reagon added that they are working in a coordinated effort to make certain that all available resources are used to keep everyone in the Fentress County school system safe. Reagon closed by saying as sheriff, he will continue to take any threat to anyone in the county very serious. The statement from the sheriff did not address a specific threat or a specific school.
