CROSSVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF METH, PUBLIC INTOXICATION

Crossville police were called for a report of a woman possibly on drugs at the Highway 127 North Dollar General. They met up with 33-year-old Ashley Johnson of Crossville, walking along the side of the road near the Circle K.

Johnson was unable to focus or form coherent sentences; she agreed to a pat down but would not let the officer take anything from her pockets.

The officer explained if she let her search the pockets, she would put anything back as soon as she found out what it was. That seemed to satisfy her and she permitted the search.

Inside her pocket was an Altoids can containing folded dollar bills. Inside one was a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for meth. Given probable cause, officers searched Johnson’s purse and found a small black straw with white residue in her wallet.

Johnson was arrested and charged with simple possession of meth and public intoxication.
