CROSSVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION, POSSESSION OF METH

Monday afternoon, Cumberland County deputies went to an address on Browntown Road for a report of a suspicious woman in black clothing, screaming and swinging a cane. When they arrived, they discovered 43-year-old Sandra Anne Bryan of Crossville had jumped into and slogged through a pond on the property and ran into the woods on the other side. They went to the adjacent property and met up with Bryan, who had a purse and a small white bag with trash in it. She said she was cleaning up the property because “people had left pig [excrement] everywhere.”

When asked for her name, she told officers it was “Angel Spirit” and, according to the arrest report “stated she was the spirit of the god of several things.”

Finally, after letting her go on about what the arresting officer termed “random gods,” he was able to get her actual identity, noting that her pupils were inordinately small.

The arrest report states, “During her speech about gods of nature, she rolled her sleeve up and I noticed what appeared to be fresh marks on her arm indicative of IV drug use.”

When asked if she had any weapons or ID in her purse, she said no. When asked by the deputy if he could look inside the purse, she replied she would rather not.

When he asked if there were narcotics in there, she “began to act frantic and refused to answer.”

The deputy then took the purse and the trash bag away from her because of concerns over her behavior.

He noted she “kept speaking in other languages” and when he attempted to take her into custody, she resisted.

At the Justice Center, Bryan again began acting frantic and refused to exit the patrol vehicle; she had to be pulled from the vehicle.

The deputy informed the corrections officer he had Bryan’s purse but had not searched it due to her refusal. The sergeant searched the bag and found a small baggie containing a small amount of meth.

Bryan was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth. Her bond was set at $11,000 and she’s due in court April 29.
