Thursday night, the Cumberland County Board of Education elected it’s new officers for the 2017-18 session. Before the election, the board saw presentations from the CCHS FFA Club and Pleasant Hill Elementary. Mrs. Mary Kington was presented with the state level TSPMA Maintenance Director of the Year Award, and Mid-State Mowers was recognized for the donation of a lawn mower to the Phoenix School Campus. Then 7^th District Rep. David Bowman was elected as the board’s new chair with 8^th District Rep. Teresa Boston being elected vice-chair. 2^nd District Rep. Rob Safdie will pull double duty: He was elected the group’s parliamentarian and TLN representative. Virgie Lotz will remain the board recorder.
