The Cumberland County Commission elected its new officers for their 2017-18 session Monday evening. County Mayor Kenneth Carey Jr. was again voted in as the group’s chair. Mayor Carey recently announced that he would not seek re-election next year, so this will be his final stint as Commission Chair. 4^th District Commissioner Allen Foster was voted in as Chairman Pro-Tem and 2^nd District Commissioner Nancy Hyder was chosen as the groups’ Parliamentarian. The commission also approved five budget amendments, three concerning the General Purpose School Fund, one concerning the Library and the last concerning the Sheriff’s Dept. A budget amendment concerning the Sanitation Fund was tabled.
