CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO THREE SATURDAY FIRES

Cumberland County Firefighters responded to three fires on Saturday, one of which was under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office but has since been turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The fire under investigation took place at 8590 Vandever Road, and details on it are sparse, so we’ll provide a proper story once details are made available.

The next fire took place at 430 Daymon Circle. An accidental fire caused by a living room fireplace causing too much heat and initiating a fire under the floor.

The homeowner was able to get out, and there were no injuries. Thankfully, damage to the home seems to be relatively minor, and power to the home was turned back on within an hour of firefighters taking out the fire. In total, Cumberland Firefighters spent around 200 gallons putting the fire out and were on the scene for roughly 45 minutes.

However, the next fire didn’t have such a happy outcome, as a camper caught fire at 20 John Myers Road.

The camper was a total loss, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, the fire had begun to spread to a nearby rough lumber shed.

While this fire also had no injuries and the homeowner made it out okay, firefighters still spent 2,000 gallons of water and a full hour on the scene.

The camper was where the owner lived, meaning he is effectively now homeless and living with relatives.
