CUMBERLAND COUNTY GETTING CLOSER TO HAVING NEW BUDGET
It’s been a long haul but the Cumberland County Budget Committee is finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Committee Chair Allen Foster told 1057 News that the end of the budget cycle is close. Thursday night, commissioners continued their review of departmental requests. Some capital items that have been approved for the budget include five new patrol cars for the sheriff’s dept. and two new ambulances. Total revenues and expenditures are still estimated, but firm numbers are on the horizon. Foster said the biggest item left for discussion is the Board of Education’s building project which includes a new elementary school at Crab Orchard and repairs and renovations at Cumberland County High School.
