CUMBERLAND COUNTY HOSTS 5TH ANNUAL FIELD OF HONOR TO SUPPORT LOCAL VETERANS
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster welcomed the community to Garrison Park on Sunday, November 1st, for the opening ceremony of the 5th Annual Field of Honor.
Organized by the Crossville Field of Honor® by Lake Tansi Exchange Club, the event features a striking display of American flags dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces. Proceeds raised through the tribute directly support veterans within Cumberland County.
The opening ceremony featured patriotic performances and presentations, including an invocation by US Air Force Chaplain Michael De Poortere, the Presentation of Colors by the Young Marines of Cumberland County, and remarks from guest speaker retired US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Mark Thompson.
The Field of Honor will remain open to the public at Garrison Park through Friday, November 6th. A closing ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Friday, featuring a closing prayer by Chaplain Guy R. McBride and a final rendition of Taps by Mark Sczublewski. Community members are encouraged to visit the display before it closes.
