CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAKES ITS VOICE HEARD AT EDUCATION COMMITTEE HEARING

The Cumberland County Schools and County Education Committee met last night at the Stone Memorial High School auditorium for their regularly scheduled meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, committee member and County Commissioner Colleen Mall was quick to inform the public in attendance of the full reach of the committee’s authority, knowing that some might believe the committee would have the power to make the Board of Education reverse their decision regarding the contract of director of schools William Stepp.

However, the event was seen as an opportunity for the public to make their voices heard regarding their dissatisfaction with the Board of Education’s decision.

Several members of the Board of Education, namely Chris King, Sheri Nichols, Travis Cole, and Shannon Stout, were also in attendance.

The five members of the board who voted against renewing Stepp for School Director, Jon Matthews, Anita Hale, Scott VanWinkle, Elizabeth Stull, and Nicholas Davis, were not in attendance.

Video of those speaking that night is available on YouTube, captured by Crossville News First. Those wishing to see the video and listen to the concerns of the attendees can go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVMke9uEU6w
