Tad Cummins appeared in federal court in Nashville this afternoon and when it was said and done, a judge ordered him to remain in jail deeming him a flight risk. The judge also sent the case to a grand jury for possible indictments.

In court, the FBI who initially interviewed Cummins said he admitted to sex with a 15-year-old former student. The pair were gone for 37 nights.

Cummins said he bought a tablet computer in Colorado to keep up with the news. He also bought a kayak in California and attempted to ride it into Mexico.

Cummins was captured with the 15-year-old girl in Northern California last month after being on the run for more than five weeks. Cummins is charged with transporting a minor across state lines to engage in criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, he would have to serve at least 10 years behind bars.

A spokesperson for acting U.S. Attorney Jack Smith said more charges could be coming if the grand jury returns an indictment.
