A fire this morning in Monterey, Tennessee left Save-A-Lot damaged. Firefighters responded to the scene on Elmore Street just before 4 am to see smoke coming from most of the strip mall the grocery store is located in. The fire believed to have originated from a stock room, was brought under control in around 30 minutes. A cause of the blaze is under investigation. The Monterey Fire Department was assisted by crews from the Putnam County Fire Department. Officials say other businesses in the strip mall are open.
