DEFENDANT FACING DUI AND KIDNAPPING CHARGES IN ROCKWOOD CRASH, FOUND DEAD BEFORE TRIAL
According to 9th District Attorney General Russell Johnson, the case involving a September 4, 2024, crash in Rockwood has been updated following the death of the defendant. On that date, Adam Lee Black crashed his pickup truck—carrying passengers Laura Snow and Sadie Snow—into a wooden sign at Doctor Tom Fuller’s Boat Ramp. As the vehicle continued through the parking lot toward the water, the two passengers jumped out and sustained serious injuries. Black was found in the driver’s seat at the bottom of the lot and was arrested for driving under the influence. The victims were transported to UT Hospital for treatment, while the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Critical Incident Response Team processed the scene.
Following allegations that Laura and Sadie Snow had been in the vehicle against their will, District Attorney General Russell Johnson requested a TBI investigation on September 12, 2024. The probe resulted in a nineteen-count indictment against Black, with charges ranging from DUI to Especially Aggravated Kidnapping. A jury trial had been scheduled for April 5, 2026. However, Black failed to appear, and authorities later found him dead at his residence via apparent suicide.
