After receiving a half million dollar grant for a new amphitheater in Kington in the area of Fort Southwest Point, the designing stage is underway. It calls for a covered stage and semi-terraced lawn seating for a capacity of 1,000 people. The stage and seating area will be comprised of natural grass, stone and timber that complements the historical site. A review of the designs is expected next month or in October. Construction could start as early as December with a completion of May 2019. The project will be entirely funded by the grant.
