On August 14, 2025, at 7:18 pm, a single-vehicle crash occurred on Sparta Hwy in Cumberland County, Tennessee, involving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 16-year-old Madison Wagoner from Tennessee, with 13-year-old passenger Kari Wagoner, also from Tennessee. Both were wearing seat belts and sustained injuries.

No charges have been filed pending the investigation.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on US 70 when it crossed the center line into the eastbound lane, veered off the left side of the roadway into a ditch, and struck a utility pole guide wire. After hitting the guide wire, the vehicle rotated counterclockwise, traveled backward, and collided with a tree, coming to a final rest facing north against the tree.

No additional vehicles or passengers were involved.
