DRIVERS ESCAPE INJURY AFTER VEHICLES COLLIDE ON HIGHWAY 70 NORTH
Two drivers escaped injury in a recent vehicle accident in Cumberland County.
In the accident report released this morning by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2002 Dodge pickup driven by 46-year-old Kellie R. Young attempted to pass a 2008 Ford F450 operated by 26-year-old Heath J. Swallows on Highway 70 North near Miller Court.
Troopers say Young did not have enough time to get around the Ford because of an oncoming vehicle.
Young collided with the Ford on the front left side.
The impact resulted in the Dodge leaving the highway, through a fence, sideswiped a tree, and came to rest in a ditch.
Officers said the Ford lost control and overturned on the driver’s side. A trailer pulled by the Ford became detached and rolled over.
The report notes both drivers were restrained at the time of the crash.
Troopers cited Young for improper passing.
