E911 TAPES ON SEVIER COUNTY WILDFIRES TO BE RELEASED NEXT WEEK

911 call tapes from last November’s wildfires are set to be released to the public next week. Sevier County public information Officer Perrin Anderson says that the Gatlinburg tapes will also be released but he was not sure if they would be released at the same time. The announcement comes after the recordings of calls made to and from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency were reportedly lost.
In June, charges were dropped against two juveniles accused of starting the wildfires in which 14 people lost their lives. Over 200 structures were also destroyed to the tune of millions of dollars. TEMA says that 14,000 people evacuated Sevier County on November 28.
