Funeral services for Edgar Leland Sherrill Jr, also known as Jody, will be Wednesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at Crab Orchard Christian Church. Burial will follow in Haley’s Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville.

Jody Sherrill passed away at his home in Crab Orchard. He retired as major after serving 21 years in the United States Air Force culminating in the joint chiefs of staff. Then after returning to Crab Orchard, he continued his service to his community as an Alderman for the City of Crab Orchard from 1976 to 1981 as well as serving as mayor of Crab Orchard from 1991 to 1994. He had also been a volunteer firefighter and served as Quartermaster of Local VFW Post # 9686 for 25 years.

Survivors include; wife: Marilyn Sherrill; sons: John (Beth) and Joseph (LeeAnn); daughters: Ann Morphew and Teresa (Jerry) Duncan; sister: Wanda Hild; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville is in charge of arrangements.
