Flu season is now upon us and experts recommend getting your flu shot. There’s not enough information for officials to know just how bad it will be this year. However, a flu vaccine takes about two weeks to take effect. Estimates show that 900,000 people were hospitalized and 80,000 died in the nation because of the flu last year. Cumberland County residents can get the flu shot at the health department weekdays from 1 to 3 p.m. In Roane County, citizens can call the health department at (865) 354-1220 to make an appointment for the shot.
