FALLEN MARYVILLE POLICE OFFICER GIVEN MEDAL OF HONOR

Slain Police Officer Kenny Moats received the Medal of Valor, the highest honor given to police officers by the Maryville Police Dept. Chief Tony Crisp announced the award during the funeral service for Officer Moats, which was held at Sevier Heights Baptist Church Wednesday. Several people spoke during the ceremony, including Chief Crisp and the department’s Chaplain. The funeral ended with a final message from the Blount County Communication’s Center putting the call out to Officer Moats. Brian Stalans, the suspected shooter of Officer Moats, appeared in court Tuesday and was officially charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
