FAMILY OF MAN SHOT BY FORMER LENOIR CITY POLICE OFFICER GETS 6 FIGURE SETTLEMENT

A settlement has been reached with the family of a man who was killed by a former Lenoir City police officer. The incident took place back in March when then-officer Tyrel Lorenz jumped into the bed of a pickup truck driven by Josh Grubbs who had been suspected of driving under the influence at Bimbo’s Convenience Store on Highway 321. After screaming at Grubbs to stop, Lorenz fired his pistol nine times into the rear window of the truck killing Grubbs. According to court records, the family settled for a six-figure amount. A Grand Jury decided in April to not indict Lorenz on several charges. The former officer has stated that the reason he shot into the truck cab was that he feared for his life and the lives of others.
