A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol says that on August 14, 2025, at approximately 3:15 PM, a tragic accident occurred on Bell Road in Cumberland County, Tennessee, involving a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by 18-year-old Chase Wayne Mackey from Tennessee.

While traveling west, Mackey lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the right side of the road in a yaw and collide with a tree. The crash resulted in the death of the passenger, 19-year-old Zackary Ray Heylek, also from Tennessee. Both individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident. Mackey sustained injuries, and charges against him are pending the outcome of the investigation.

No additional vehicles or passengers were involved.
