FBI OFFERS REWARD IN UNPROVOKED ATTACK ON KNOXVILLE POLICE OFFICER

The FBI has announced a $5000 reward concerning an unprovoked attack on a police officer after last Saturday’s UT football game. Knoxville Officer BK Hardin was hit over the head be an unknown person using a blunt object, while he directed traffic Hardin was treated at the scene by an off-duty firefighter. He later underwent emergency surgery at UT Medical Center. He is currently recuperating at home, but it’s said he will not be returning to work for at least two months. Witnesses say the suspect is a white male in his 20s who was wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. A person of interest was questioned on Sunday but was later released. Investigators add they’ve spoken with officers in the area on Saturday and have been told they’ve not had any negative interactions with anyone matching the suspect description. Video taken from inside nearby patrol cars is also being reviewed. Police want anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw someone running, acting nervous or looking suspicious between 7:15 p.m .and 7:40 p.m. Saturday in the 17th and Clinch area to contact them at 865-215-7212.
