The federal trial involving former employees of Pilot/Flying J Truck Stops has been postponed for a few weeks. U.S. District Judge Curtis Collier had called a break in the trial of those former employees who allegedly conspired to scam numerous trucking companies out of advertised rebates. Judge Collier stated that after Thursday’s proceedings, the trial will be postponed and will return to session on January 8. The owner and CEO of the company, Jimmy Haslam, brother of Gov. Bill Haslam, has not been charged in the case. He has gone on record as saying that he had no knowledge of the fraud scheme. Fourteen members of the Pilot sales department have pleaded guilty, and the company has paid an $85 million settlement to scammed customers and a $92 million penalty to the government.
