FENTRESS COUNTY COMMISSION APPOINTS TEMPORARY SHERIFF
The Fentress County Commission has appointed a temporary sheriff. The commission met Monday night and several residents voiced their concerns and questions about the current situation involving the federal investigation of former sheriff Chucky Cravens. Cravens resignation becomes official on April 28. Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter will resume the sheriff’s duties for the time being. Cravens is under investigation by the FBI and TBI for what has been called “improprieties.” Cravens is the second law officer in the region to leave his office in the heat of scandal in the last two months. Last month, Algood Police Chief Gary Harris was fired for inappropriate conduct. Picture of Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter courtesy of WATE.
