In a unanimous decision, the Cumberland County Financial Management Committee yesterday approved the low bid of $439,742.75 submitted by Twin K Construction of Helenwood, Tennessee, for a bridge project over Duncan Creek in Pleasant Hill. Finance Director Nathan Brock asked Road Superintendent Scott Blaylock whether he concurred with the recommendation to go with Twin K; Blaylock said he did, noting the company has done county projects in the past. Blaylock further said he appreciated the timing of the approval of the project. “This was really a critical thing for us to get in before the fourth of July,” he said; they need to get paperwork filed with TDOT before the project moves forward.
