A food pantry for Roane State students in Harriman has been established in a renovated space within the gymnasium’s entrance foyer. A ribbon-cutting for the pantry was held yesterday. A $1,000 gift from the Kroger Co. Foundation will help stock the pantry, which is operated in partnership with Mid-East Community Action Agency. Roane State statistics show 47 percent of the community college’s students come from low-income families.
