FORMER ROANE FAMILY PROMISE DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW

East Tennessee — Charles Elmore, a respected nonprofit leader and director for Habitat for Humanity in East Tennessee, has been appointed to the Harvard Business Review (HBR) Advisory Board, a distinguished panel of professionals selected for their exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact across industries.
Elmore brings more than two decades of nonprofit board experience to the advisory board, with a deep commitment to community development and organizational transformation. Known for his results-driven leadership style, Elmore has been instrumental in driving exponential growth in the organizations he leads.
As a director for Habitat for Humanity, Elmore has projected a 400%–600% increase in home building this year compared to the previous two years, fueled by more aggressive grant acquisition and reimbursement schedules. This bold strategy reflects his commitment to addressing the critical need for affordable housing across East Tennessee and demonstrates his ability to scale programs to meet growing demand.
Before joining Habitat for Humanity, Elmore served as Executive Director of Family Promise of Roane County. During his tenure, the organization expanded its services by over 500%, implemented groundbreaking support models for families experiencing homelessness, and received state and national recognition. In his final year, Family Promise of Roane County was named Nonprofit of the Year by the Roane Chamber.
Over the course of his career, Elmore has served on nearly thirty nonprofit boards, helping organizations build capacity, improve governance, and enhance service delivery. His strategic insight and unwavering dedication have made him a sought-after leader in the nonprofit sector.
