FORT CAMPBELL SOLDIERS LEADING ALLIANCE IN FREEING MOSUL FROM ISIS

Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division is leading an alliance that includes 19 nations in the support of Iraq in freeing Mosul from ISIS control. A photo submitted by the U.S. Army shows Major General Gary Volesky, the commanding general at Ft. Campbell, shaking hands with an Iraqi soldier. In a military release, Volesky is quoted as saying that Iraqi security forces have been waiting to liberate Mosul for two years. The U.S. sent 600 more troops to aid in the city’s capture with airstrikes and weapons. There are already about 1,700 Fort Campbell soldiers in Iraq already.
