FUNNY MONEY BEING PASSED IN CROSSVILLE
Two phony bills have turned up in Crossville in as many days – a twenty and a hundred.
On Wednesday, Crossville Police were called to the Volunteer Energy office on O’Brien Drive for a counterfeit $20 bill. A customer said he received the bill as change for a purchase at Kroger around 8:30 the previous evening.
Then Thursday morning, police were called to Kroger for a counterfeit $100 bill. The bookkeeper stated one of the store’s cashiers took the bill as payment. She said a Loomis employee saw the bill in the office and commented about having seen several of these same types of counterfeit bills from Albany, Kentucky, to Jamestown.
