Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam issued the following statement this afternoon on the fate of a death-row inmate set to be executed tonight: “After careful consideration of David Earl Miller’s clemency request, I am declining to intervene in this case.”

Miller is scheduled to die in the electric chair shortly after 7 p.m. Central Time, at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville.
