GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL TO REDUCE COST TO ERASE LOW-LEVEL CRIMINAL RECORDS

Gov. Bill Haslam has signed a new bill into law making it easier for people who are convicted of low-level crimes to get their records erased. The measure reduces the cost of getting a criminal record expunged from $350 to $180. This cost decrease will now make it more affordable for that to happen. Officials championed the creation of the bill as an effort to help non-violent offenders who have turned their lives around.
