GOVERNOR’S GAS TAX HIKE BILL EXPECTED TO BE APPROVED BY HO– USE TUESDAY

Legislation which has been in the works for the better part of this year concerning Gov. Bill Haslam’s increase of the gas tax hike in favor to fund road and bridge work is near its’ end. The House is ready to tackle what is expected to be the final positive vote on the matter Tuesday. The bill will then be ready to go to the governor for his signature. Both chambers passed the bill Wednesday, but left a property tax break for disabled veterans unresolved. The bill also cuts sales tax on groceries, corporate taxes on manufacturers and tax on earnings from stocks and bonds.
