GREEN ACRES MEMORY GARDENS PENALIZED BY STATE REGULATORY BOARD

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Regulatory Boards has released its latest disciplinary action report today. The board says Green Acres Memory Gardens, Inc. failed to timely make deposits to the improvement care trust and failed to timely file its annual cemetery report on improvement care trust.

The company was assessed a $500 civil penalty.

The board is empowered to take disciplinary action against license holders found guilty of violating laws governing their professions.

The State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, the Burial Services/Cemetery Division, oversees the requirements for the Improvement Care Trust Funds mandated by legislation. The establishment of the fund is to protect consumers who purchase cemetery and funeral property services from cemetery companies. The Tennessee Code Annotated Title 46 Chapter 1 Section 202 defines the fidelity and surety bond requirements for improvement care trust funds for cemetery companies.
