After nearly a year without a permanent city manager, the Crossville City Council approved the hiring of Greg Wood for the position Tuesday night. Scott Shanks made the motion to hire Wood with Pamela Harris seconding the motion. City Mayor James Mayberry said that Wood’s background check cleared and that Wood had signed off on the two-year contract that includes a 10 percent raise after the first six months, severance package and moving expenses. Mayor Mayberry also stated that Wood, who is currently in Baker, FL, has already had the opportunity to look at the city’s 2017-18 Budget, and that he would assume the city manager job on March 6th. Mayor Pro Tem JH Graham was absent from the meeting.
