HAMMER-WIELDING MAN TASED, ARRESTED IN CROSSVILLE
Late Sunday night, Crossville police were dispatched to the 700 block of Webb Avenue for a report of a man beating on a resident’s door with a hammer. There they found 27-year-old Dustin Blaine France with a framing hammer slung over one shoulder and a hatchet and fixed-blade knife in his left hand.
France refused multiple requests to drop his weaponry. At one point he began to lower them, then stopped and, according to the police report, “made a statement demanding that we ask him nicely.”
He raised his weapons again, whereupon an officer deployed his taser. France, who required medical treatment, was taken into custody without further incident.
The man on whose door France had been banging claimed France had threatened him with the hammer after accusing him of sleeping with his girlfriend.
France was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. The weapons were confiscated and placed into evidence, along with the taser cartridge.
