Crossville police were called to the Walmart in Obed Plaza Friday for a report of a woman who attempted to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit $50 bill. Once she was approached about the fake money, Pamela Blanton (no age disclosed) of Crossville attempted to conceal a wad of counterfeit bills.
Additionally, she had watery, bloodshot eyes and was slurring her overly slow speech.
According to the arrest report, Blanton told officers she’d gotten the bills from a man living off Shoreline Drive. She consented to a search during which police turned up half an oxycodone pill and a phentermine pill on her person, along with a prescription bottle containing 18.5 oxycodone pills that had been filled two days earlier. Police determined 95 additional pills should have been in the bottle. The confiscated oxycodone carried a street value of $1,480.
In all $1,450 in counterfeit bills was seized (29 $50 bills).
Blanton was placed under arrest and served with three warrants.
