HICKERSON CHARGED WITH DRUG, FIREARMS POSSESSION

Cumberland County deputies were called to a residence on the 2300 block of Peavine Firetower Road late Monday night. When they arrived, they noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from 68-year-old Charles Gleason Hickerson. A consent search turned up marijuana and glass pipes hidden in several spots in the home, including in the couch, inside a Mason jar in a kitchen cabinet and in several zip-top baggies in the living room.

Hidden in the couch deputies discovered an envelope containing approximately $8,000 in U.S. currency, along with a fully loaded .357 magnum revolver.

According to the arrest report, Hickerson’s wallet also contained a large amount of cash. The total amount, between the wallet and the envelope, was determined to be $9,051. Hickerson admitted he receives about $800 a month in retirement. Deputies advised him the cash was being seized because of the possibility of its being  proceeds from the illegal sale of narcotics.

Total weight of the marijuana seized was approximately 4.7 ounces.

Hickerson was charged with manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. He was placed under $20,000 bond and has a court date of January 14.
