MISUSE OF CREDIT/DEBIT CARD, THEFT IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
An elderly couple on the 200 block of Robin Court reported Monday the theft of a lawn mower and a debit/credit card. By the time of the report, the card had been used to make $593 in fraudulent purchases.
The residents believe the woman’s granddaughter and the granddaughter’s boyfriend are responsible for the thefts. The woman said she leaves her wallet on the dining-room table and recently discovered it missing. The granddaughter’s boyfriend reportedly told her to look for it under the couch, because the cat may have knocked it off the table and under the couch. The wallet did turn out to be under the couch. At the time she found the wallet, the woman did not realize her debit/credit card was missing. According to the police report, the granddaughter allegedly admitted to making the unauthorized purchases.
The male victim said he let the woman’ granddaughter’s boyfriend (who both lived a few houses up the road) do some work on his riding mower, which until recently was in the front yard. The boyfriend claimed to have moved it to the back of the house.
Since then, the victims said, it appears the granddaughter and her boyfriend “have skipped town and abandoned their home on Robin Court.” Further, the man said he went to the abandoned residence and realized the lawn mower was not in the rear of the home, nor anywhere else on the property. The mower is valued at approximately $1,000.
An investigation into its disappearance is ongoing.
