HIGH-SPEED CHASE INVOLVING TWO AREA COUNTIES LANDS MAN IN JAIL
Five people were taken into custody yesterday following a high-speed pursuit that started in Blount County and ended in Loudon County. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle operated by 22-year-old Ernest Wayne McDonald for a traffic violation when McDonald sped off. The chase went onto West Lamar Alexander Parkway and McDonald struck another vehicle in Maryville. The pursuit continued into Loudon County where McDonald crashed his vehicle in Lenoir City near I-75. Multiple charges are pending against McDonald, who was taken to jail. Four other juveniles in the vehicle fled on foot but were quickly arrested. The juveniles were later released to their guardians.
