IDENTITY OF MAN SHOT BY OVERTON CO. DEPUTIES RELEASED

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released today (Thursday, November 2, 2017) the identity of the man who died during an officer-involved shooting in Overton County earlier this week. Officials identified the man as 39-year-old Paul Landis Gorden. TBI officials said officers shot and killed Gorden when he produced a firearm during a confrontation with two Overton County deputies at a residence on Pedalbrook Lane. Officers responded to the location after a resident reported an abandoned vehicle with bullet holes on the property. Authorities said the confrontation broke out when the deputies arrived on scene and saw Gorden walk out of a nearby tree line. No officers were injured and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
