IDENTITY RELEASED OF CHILD WHO DIED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY FATAL FIRE

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office today released the name of the child who died in a house fire late yesterday.

Deputies, firefighters, and TBI agents responded to a structure fire at 2074 Fall Creek Road in the Westel community.

When they arrived, the learned 5-year-old Willow Carpenter was inside the residence. Carpenter was unable to escape the fire and unfortunately perished. The child’s mother, 38-year-old Andrea Cox, was airlifted to Skyline Medical Center Burn Unit in Nashville for treatment of severe injuries.

Sheriff Casey Cox and the entire Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office extend their deepest condolences to the family affected by this devastating event. The sheriff’s office’s thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. The loss of a young life is a tragedy that impacts the entire community.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is ongoing. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are working diligently to determine the cause of this tragic incident.
