JEWELRY THEFT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO PARTIAL RECOVERY AND CHARGES

A Crossville woman has been charged in connection with a theft at a local bank. Police were dispatched to Progressive Bank on Main St. for the report of a theft of several pieces of jewelry from a desk drawer. Rings and ear rings were the items that had been taken from boxes inside the drawers. The items were valued at $15,350. Police made contact with one of the house keepers, 41-year-old April M. Swallows, who had access to the bank’s offices after hours. During an interview, Swallows reportedly told officers that she had contact with the jewelry and that it was possibly in some trash bags. While searching through trash bags at a Wayne Ave. location, detectives found some of the missing jewelry. Swallows was placed under arrest and charged with theft over $10,000 and the investigation is continuing.
