Judith A. Murphy, age 78, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017. She is survived by her husband; daughters: Kathy Bertelsen of Mooresville, NC, Gretchen Bowman of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rebecca Lambert of Vandalia, IL; son: Erich Murphy of Chenoa, IL; sister: Martha King of Chapin, SC; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. After teaching first grade in Monmouth, IL, she and her husband retired to Fairfield Glade and joined Fairfield Glade Community Church. She sang in the choir, played bells and led the prayer shawl ministry. She also sang with the Cumberland County Community Chorus. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at the Cumberland County Playhouse where she performed in many plays. A service celebrating her life will be held November 25, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Fairfield Glade Community Church. Memorials can be made to the Cumberland County Playhouse or Fairfield Glade Community Church.
