KNOXVILLE COULD BECOME A SELF-DRIVING VEHICLE TEST SITE
Driver-less cars could be coming to Knoxville. City Mayor Madeline Rogero is thinking about the possibility of allowing the city to become a test-site for connected and self-driving vehicles. Mayor Rogero will meet with a group of the nation’s transportation leaders Wednesday at an annual high-tech program presented by Gridsmart. Officials at the company say that few cities can offer the assets that Knoxville has such as a four-season climate, hills and flatlands. Ann Arbor, MI, Contra Costa CA, and Tampa, FLA have already established testing sites.
