LAKE TANSI POLICE ADDRESS SPEEDING ON DUNBAR ROAD

The Lake Tansi Police clarified that the 20 MPH speed zone on Dunbar Road near the golf course is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as Dunbar Road is a state highway. The flashing lights and attached yellow 20 MPH signs serve as an extra warning for motorists approaching the golf cart crossing area, where vehicles on Dunbar have the right-of-way and are advised not to stop.

Although the solar-powered lights may not operate during evening hours, the posted speed limit remains enforceable at all times. Standard white regulatory speed limit signs and advance-notification signs are present on both sides of the road. The common misconception that the reduced speed only applies when the lights are flashing is incorrect; if that were the case, the signs would explicitly state “20 MPH WHEN FLASHING.”

Authorities urge all drivers to stay alert and obey the posted traffic signs for safety in the area.
