LATEST REPORT HAS 14 DEAD IN GATLINBURG FIRES
In the latest from the Gatlinburg situation, officials have confirmed that 14 people lost their lives while 134 were injured. Many of those who died have been identified. Around 1, 684 structures have either been damaged or destroyed by the horrific wildfires which plowed through the area last week. The Tennessee Forestry Services says that fires have consumed over 17,000 acres with 11,000 acres in The Great Smokey Mountains National Park alone. At a press conference Friday, GSMNP Superintendent Cassius Cash said that a human set the fire that spread into Gatlinburg. A full investigation is continuing.
